What is the Happy Habit Planner?
An excuse eraser to not painting often!
When a specific plan is written, the probabilities of it happening are A LOT higher and the excuses tend to vanish, little by little.
The planner includes a monthly theme with suggested painting ideas, space for value sketching, a monthly view calendar, and weekly calendars for detailed scheduling, tracking, and planning.
Each month, I provide a theme for inspiration, including a list of ideas to play with color, composition, or loosening up. You can keep it as simple or as complicated as you want.
You’ll find space for weekly thumbnail-value sketches of your chosen subjects.
Use the monthly view page to fill in your main events and commitments so you have an idea of what your month looks like.
Use your weekly planner to choose a time of day to dedicate to painting. An intentions section allows you to write down your dedicated theme, location, and time for the current week.
Every month has a new theme so you'll never get bored!
"Mónica, my planner came today! I love it! It is exactly what I need to get back into a routine." -D.I.
Take a look inside!
The Happy Habit of Daily(ish) Painting is an evergreen planner for those who wish to begin or continue developing the habit of painting every day (or most days). The more you paint, the better painter you become!
The planner originated from artist, Mónica Linares’s course, “The Happy Habit of Daily (or almost daily) Painting” which was created after Mónica discovered that the principles of habit formation could easily be applied to painting. Her own daily(ish) painting practice became so successful, that she knew she had to share it with others!
This planner is a tool that will guide your daily(ish) painting practice by offering monthly painting themes and exercises, spaces to sketch, monthly calendar pages for overall planning, and weekly pages for creating your daily painting plan.

"Just received my painting planner and I am excited to get started! I like the way it is laid out and that it gives you prompts for painting ideas. It is also convenient that the dates are not already filled out, so for the procrastinator (hopefully reformed) it allows some wiggle room to develop your painting habit." -Amy V.

The Happy Habit Planner
"Beautiful, inspiring and easy to use. This planner has been a powerful guide as I learn how to create the habit of daily painting!"
-Elizabeth
"Mónica is a great painter and teacher!
Having taken Mónica's Happy Habit of Daily(ish) Painting class, I'm excited to have my copy of The Happy Habit Planner. Mónica is not only a great painter and teacher, she’s a scholar in the area of habit formation, and that’s what the Planner is aimed at. Based on her knowledge and her own practice, she provides a wonderful structure for forming a painting habit. It worked for me in her course, and now I’ve got a hands-on, practical tool to reinforce my painting habit.
The Planner suggests monthly topics (fruit, clothing, etc.) and variations (“now paint with a 1” brush,” “use only 30 brushstrokes,” etc.) to address the problem of what to paint, something I struggle with and really appreciate about the Planner.
Next comes space for value sketches, a month-at-a-glance calendar, a weekly calendar for more detailed planning, and tips on setting up a still life and doing value sketches. She encourages painters to use small surfaces and aim to finish a painting in 30-60 minutes, avoiding perfectionism and stalling out. “We’re not creating a masterpiece,” she often says.
The Happy Habit framework is about forming the habit of regular painting, from which so much grows. I love the structure and design of the Planner and can’t wait to incorporate a little Happy Habit time into my practice on most days. The instructions and tips are simple, clear, and inspiring.
The weekly calendar is well thought out and provides room to write down intentions, priorities, to-do lists, tracking, and celebratory credit. The Planner is evergreen, i.e., not tied to particular dates, which is a great feature. The Planner itself is beautifully made and lies flat for ease of use. It’s a perfect size, too: 8x8 inches."
